Italy has reported 1,899
extreme-weather events between the beginning of 2024 and
September 15, the ANBI observatory on hydric resources said
Friday.
These included 212 tornadoes (52 in the first half of September
of which 71% on the Thyrrenian coast), 1,023 storms (157 in the
first 15 days of September with 91% reported in central and
norther regions) and 664 hailstorms including 37 in the first
half of September with a record number registered in the
Versilia coastal area of Tuscany, ANBI said.
According to the European Severe Weather Database, all three
types of extreme-weather events hit the eastern part of the
Emilia-Romagna region in September.
