Storm Boris, the wave of extreme
weather that has left at least 19 people dead in flooding in
Central and Eastern Europe, is set to return to Italy from
Tuesday to Thursday after brushing the peninsula last Thursday,
weathermen said Tuesday.
Italy is already on high alert, particularly in Emilia-Romagna
and Marche, for expected floods after the devastating ones that
hit Romania, Poland, Czech Republic and Austria, said Lorenzo
Tedici.
"The unusually hot Adriatic Sea will feed storms across the
whole Adriatic Apennines starting Tuesday and lasting until
Thursday," he said.
"We expect more extreme weather events".
Tedici said more than 250 mm of rain will fall in the next three
days.
A yellow bad-weather alert is in force in Adriatic regions and
Lazio starting Tuesday.
