A 47-year-old man of Algerian origin
on Monday died at the Versilia Hospital in Viareggio where he
had been taken in critical condition after a hit-and-run
incident at the seaside resort.
Investigative sources said they suspect the driver could have
deliberately run over the man before speeding away.
Emergency medical services were alerted by a couple who saw the
man lying unconscious on the pavement shortly after midnight
Monday.
Police are investigating the case.
