Administrative staff shortages at the
State attorney's office in the central Umbria city of Perugia
have reached a "critical level that does not allow to guarantee
the constant and prompt execution of the office's services" at
the expense of key investigations, prosecutors said on Monday.
The State attorney's office in Perugia, among other things, has
jurisdiction over any case involving magistrates in Rome.
The alarm was raised by local chief prosecutor Raffaele Cantone
and the administrative chief Alessandro Marchionni in a letter
to the justice ministry and the general prosecutor of the Umbria
capital.
The letter stressed the "increasingly grave concern" for the
"growing lack of staff".
