Pope Francis on Monday arrived in East
Timor, the third stopover of his 12-day visit to Southeast Asia
and Oceania.
The pontiff's plane, which had departed from Port Moresby in
Papua New Guinea, landed at the international airport of the
capital Dili for a three-day visit to the Catholic-majority
country.
Francis was welcomed at the airport by President José
Ramos-Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão.
The pontiff's agenda in the afternoon includes a welcome
ceremony at the presidential palace, a visit of the head of
State and a meeting with authorities, civil society and the
diplomatic corps.
