A 38-year-old woman of Brazilian
origin is dead after being stabbed by her 54-year-old husband in
front of the couple's three children overnight in their home in
the town of Colli al Metauro, in the province of Pesaro and
Urbino, sources said on Saturday.
It is the latest in an alarming spate of femicides in Italy.
The husband has been detained by Carabinieri police.
The woman had spoken to the police about being a victim of
domestic violence and had left home, but refused to file a
formal complaint, the sources said.
Indeed, the husband reported that she had left the marital home
on September 2.
It seems that she returned home on Friday without informing the
Carabinieri, who had activated the 'code red' protocol for the
victims of domestic violence.
