President Sergio Mattarella on
September 23 will host a ceremony to congratulate the athletes
who won a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics as well as those who
missed out on a podium spot and ranked fourth, in a first,
well-informed sources at Casa Italia have told ANSA.
Matteralla directly expressed his desire to Italian Olympic
Committee (CONI) President Giovanni Malagò to celebrate an
edition of the Summer Games in which Italy totalled the same
record number of medals won at the Summer Games in Tokyo three
years ago - 40 medals but with two additional golds - as well as
several fourth places, the sources said.
Mattarella will thus receive the men's volleyball team who
ranked fourth at the games, among others.
