President Sergio Mattarella has
complimented Italy's women's volleyball team for their historic
first gold medal, at the Paris Olympics, Italian Olympic
Committee (CONI) President Gianni Malagò said after the victory
over reigning champs USA Sunday.
"The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, called me a
little while ago to congratulate the volleyball girls," Malagò
told a press conference on the Games
"He was very proud of what they did. Compliments extended to the
entire expedition".
Mattarella will receive the Italian delegation for the return of
the flag on 23 September, at 11 a.m., at the Quirinale.
