Health services at a Milan migrant
pre-removal centre (CPR) under investigation for fraud and bid
rigging were totally inadequate, a prosecutor's inspection
warrant said Friday.
The health service, with doctors and nurses, was "absolutely"
inadequate, with a lack of medicines' and fitness-for-life
examinations for guests with epilepsy, hepatitis, brain tumours
and other serious illnesses also "absolutely lacking", the
warrant said.
The psychological and psychiatric support was "largely
insufficient" and provided by staff who do not know the language
of the guests, said the prosecutor.
"They live in a facility with dirty rooms and bathrooms 'in
disgraceful conditions and are served smelly, rotten, and
expired food," said the inspection warrant for the CPR in via
Corelli in Milan, which the public prosecutor's Office is
investigating.
