Pope Francis is is good condition
following his abdominal surgery to fix a hernia caused by a 2021
operation Wednesday, is alert and breathing unassisted, the
Vatican press office said Thursday.
"The medical staff following the Pontiff's post-operative course
informs us that Pope Francis spent a peaceful night, managing to
rest for a long time; he is in good general condition, alert and
breathing spontaneously. The routine control examinations are
good. For the whole day he will observe the necessary
post-operative rest", said the director of the Vatican Press
Office, Matteo Bruni.
"The Pope is informed of the messages of closeness and affection
that have arrived in the last few hours and expresses his
gratitude, at the same time asking for continued prayers for
him," the Holy See spokesman added.
