A member of the powerful transnational
Calabrian based 'Ndrangheta mafia who had been on the run for 17
years was arrested in France Thursday, local police and
Carabinieri said.
Carabinieri arrested Edgardo Greco, a fugitive from justice
since 2006 for a double 'Ndrangheta murder in Cosenza in 1991
for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment, in Saint
Etienne.
A European arrest warrant issued by the Catanzaro Public
Prosecutor's Office was pending against Greco.
Greco was identified and arrested by the Carabinieri
paramilitary police of the Cosenza Operations Department as part
of an investigation coordinated by the Catanzaro District
Anti-Mafia Directorate.
An extradition request will now be made, judicial sources said.
