Pope Francis told young people in the
Democratic Republic of Congo Thursday that they should not give
in to the "filth" of corruption that has plagued DRC society,
business and politics.
In his meeting with young people in Kinshasa, the Pope asked
them to say yes to "honesty" and no to "corruption.
"Let us say together: no to corruption," the Pope asked,
speaking in French.
He then cited the case of Floribert Bwana Chui who was killed 15
years ago in Goma for blocking the passage of spoiled food that
would have damaged people's health.
"He could have let it go, he would not have been found out and
he would even have gained.
"But as a Christian, he prayed, thought of others and chose to
be honest, saying no to the filth of corruption.
"This is keeping not only your hands clean but your heart
clean".
