Pope Francis has confirmed he has
been brokering the release of Ukrainian prisoners by Russia.
He said Moscow had been "very positive" in its response to the
pope's lists of Ukrainian civilians and soldiers who could be
freed.
"I'm working in general with the reception of lists of
prisoners, both civilian prisoners and military prisoners, and I
have them set to the Russian government, and the response has
always been very positive," Francis told US Jesuit magazine
America.
