Co-workers give man 270 hrs of holidays after wife dies

Bus driver near Venice has 30 days of vacation time donated

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 21 - The co-workers of a man whose wife died of cancer near Venice clubbed together and 'donated' him 270 hrs of holidays so he can look after the couple's two children, local media reported Wednesday.
Andrea Leoni, a 48-year-old bus driver at San Donà di Piave, lost his 47-year-old wife Chiara Batacchi to cancer recently.
He had used up all his holidays looking after her and their two children aged 11 and 13.
So his colleagues opened up a Telegram appeal and by late Tuesday had managed to accumulate 270 hours in donated holiday time for the newly widowed driver.
The hours amount to around 30 days of vacation.
Leoni said "I'll be paid during the month off, otherwise I would have had to take leave and would have lost everything." "I can be with my children at this sad time". (ANSA).
