Lazio and Italy striker Ciro Immobile
was found guilty of tax evasion at the end of July, La
Repubblica daily reported Tuesday.
The evasion of personal income tax IRPEF had to do with the
player's transfer from Juventus to Genoa in 2012, 10 years ago,
the daily wrote.
Italy's supreme Court of Cassation at the end of July rejected
an appeal from the Lazio captain against a sentence issued in
2019 by the tax commission of his home region, Campania.
The sentence was related to the fees received by Immobile as
part of his move to Genoa, which preceded spells at Torino,
Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, and, from 2016, Lazio.
La Repubblica did not say how much IRPEF Immobile had been
convicted of dodging.
It also did not report how much he was ordered to pay in back
taxes and sanctions.
Immobile, 32, has played 213 times for Lazio since 2016 and
scored 152 times for the Roman club.
He has 55 Italy caps, since 2014, and 15 goals for his country.
