A mummified marmot has emerged from a
glacier on Mt Rosa in northern Italy, sources said Wednesday.
An Alpine guide found the frozen groundhog at an altitude of
some 4,200 metres.
The climate-crisis-linked shrinking and fusion of Alpine
glaciers was behind the find, sources said.
Marmots have rarely been seen at such high altitudes in modern
times.
Scientists will now try to date the mummy.
It is set to be placed in a local museum.
