(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 28 - Carabinieri police found a
57-year-old dead in the garden of his home in Corte Palasio, in
the northern province of Lodi, with two cuts to the throat late
on Monday and an accidental death is suspected.
The police rushed to the scene after neighbours heard screams
and sounded the alarm.
The victim, Pierangelo Repanati, a journalist who was the mayor
of the town between 2004 and 2009, was initially thought to have
been attacked while watering plants in his garden.
Investigators said they suspected robbers killed him during an
attempted burglary.
But prosecutor Domenico Chiaro said the case was "to be linked,
with growing probability, to an accidental event with the
exclusion of voluntary action by third persons".
Police found pieces of broken glass Repanati in his home which
they think may have featured in the likely accident. (ANSA).
