An elderly woman refused to go to
hospital in order not to abandon her dog in a small town near
Perugia earlier this week, sources said Friday.
The woman, alone and without any family members to help her, and
with rising health problems, shut herself up in her home and
refused to come out when an ambulance came to take her to
hospital.
Police intervened and took the small animal to a dog shelter
where they assured the woman it would be safe until she returned
home.
She then agreed to go to hospital.
The incident happened in a village near the Umbrian capital.
