The amount spent on the government's
'citizenship wage' basic income and pension in the province of
Naples is almost equal to that spent in the whole of northern
Italy, the ad hoc observatory of pensions and social services
agency INPS said Thursday.
In and around the southern Italian port city, it said, basic
income expenditure in March amounted to 105.3 million euros,
compared to 107.7 million in the entire north of the country.
Over 166,000 Neapolitan households totalling some 446,000
recipients got the benefit in March compared to 221,000
households and 432,000 beneficiaries in the north.
The average monthly cheque was 631.88 in Naples in March
compared to 486 euros in the north.
