Artificial Intelligence (AI) will
boost the post-COVID restart, ANSA President Giulio Anselmi told
the third ANSA AI Observatory conference in Rome on Monday.
"The restart, after the sharp brake inflicted by COVID, has only
partly happened and, if it happens, it will also be thanks to
the contribution of artificial intelligence, which is already
with us at many levels," including virtual assistants like Siri,
Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as science projects like
studying earthquakes and meteorology, and the health sector,
especially in helping identify illness, Anselmi said.
Reacting to the pandemic had accelerated AI development, "in
which everyone has invested," said the ANSA president.
He went on to warn against a distorted use of AI, saying that in
journalism, for example, "there is a risk of a massive,
uncontrollable production of fake news".
Traditional journalistic tools like fact checking and the
rigorous checking of sources cane help stop fake news engulfing
us, said Anselmi.
More generally, he said, the key is "to use artificial
intelligence to boost and enhance our own emotional
intelligence".
