Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi said Monday
that If industry does not take risks to deliver on climate
commitments, Greta Thunberg will have been right to accuse
business and political leaders of producing lots of "blah, blah,
blah" and no real action.
"If we tell stories that no one can see, it's just 'blah, blah,
blah,'" the head of Italian oil-and-gas giant told a group of
people obtaining their doctorates at Milan's Bicocca University.
"We must take person risks now in order to be credible.
"That is the only way to make the talk true and credible.
"I probably won't be around after 2030 and words must be
followed by deeds.
"We took the risk the the Sustainable Bonds because we believe
in our transition plan and wanted to give them an economic
reason.
"Otherwise it is just words".
Experts say the burning of fossil fuels like oil and gas is the
biggest driving force of the climate crisis.
