A 13-year-old boy
attempted to run away from home on the first day of school to
avoid the same bullying he experienced last year at the hands of
some classmates, according to Italian regional daily Nuova
Sardegna.
The teen left his home on the island of La Maddalena, off the
northeast coast of Sardinia, on Monday, unbeknownst to his
parents, who discovered his bed empty when they went in to wake
him for school.
Police found him a few hours later on the neighbouring island
of Caprera, and he told them about the bullying, which his
parents and the school were already aware of.
The boy's parents are now considering whether to file a
formal complaint against the school bullies.
