The European Central Bank (ECB)
has laid down its conditions for the proposed merger of Banco
Popolare and Banca Popolare di Milano (BPM), ANSA sources said
Thursday.
The ECB reportedly sent a 'final notice' to the two credit
institutes on Wednesday evening, imposing its requirements for
the merger.
It has not been said what these conditions are, although it
has been suggested the Milanese and Veronese banks could now
face an uphill climb.
