Italian consumers will pop an
estimated 52 million bottles of spumante or domestic sparkling
wine to usher in the new year, Coldiretti farmers' association
said Thursday.
At least 86% of consumers chose spumante over French
champagne, a 4% rise over last year.
As well, spumante exports jumped 13% this year for a total
of 190 million bottles, Coldiretti said.
