Italy ranks third among EU
countries for remittances sent to non-EU countries, said
Eurostat on Wednesday.
The statistics bureau said in 2014, 6.5 billion euros in
personal transfers left Italy for non-EU countries, following
France with 9.4 billion and the UK with 6.8 billion.
"The majority of personal transfers consist of flows of
money sent by migrants to their country of origin," the report
said.
Italy ranked fourth for incoming transfers, which totaled
2.1 billion euros in 2014, following Portugal, Poland, and the
UK.
