French tycoon Xavier Niel has
increased his stake in Telecom Italia to 15.14%, Milan
stock-market regulator Consob said on Friday. Niel, founder of
low-cost French mobile operator Iliad, hit the headlines on
Thursday when it emerged that he had acquired a 11.2% stake in
Telecom. Friday's announcement means that over a third of
Telecom Italia is in French hands as French media group Vivendi
has 20.03%. Consob said Thursday it was looking at possible
links between Niel and Vivendi.
