Former Italian premier Silvio
Berlusconi called Monday for the "defence of Israel" and said
the international community is maintaining an "unacceptable
equidistance" between aggressors and those attacked.
"The defence of Israel today more than ever is the defence
of the reasons for freedom, democracy and civil and religious
pluralism," the media magnate said.
Berlusconi condemned what he called "the very grave attacks
harming Israeli citizens".
