Turkish police have been
holding an Italian minor in custody in Adana province for the
past two weeks, local sources have reported.
The sources say the girl was not with her parents when she
was stopped by police, and her parents were also not in Turkey
at the time. The girl has an Italian passport and is resident in
France.
Adana province is close to the Turkish-Syrian border where
several foreigners have been stopped by Turkish authorities,
accused of trying to cross the border to join the Islamic State
militant group.
Italy's consulate in Izmir is handling the case. Turkish
authorities have not provided an official reason for why the
girl is being held.
