The European Parliament on
Thursday approved the allocation of 401.3 million euros to EU
member states and agencies operating on the front lines of the
current refugee and migrant crisis
The funding was approved with 577 votes in favour, 66
against and 14 abstaining, and can be disbursed immediately.
Of the total, 100 million euros are going to the Asylum,
Migration & Integration and Internal Security funds, 1.3 million
euros will cover 120 new hires at EU border agency Frontex, and
300 million to the EU regional trust fund set up in December
2014 to help Syrians refugees fleeing an ongoing civil war in
their country.
