The Bari appeals court on
Tuesday acquitted ex-minister Raffaele Fitto of corruption on
grounds there was no case to answer in connection with an
alleged bribe taken in exchange for the management of 11 nursing
homes.
Fitto, who served as regional affairs minister under the
last Berlusconi government, was accused of taking 500,000 euros
from Roman businessman Gianpaolo Angelucci for party funding in
exchange for the management contract while he was governor of
the southern Puglia region.
