General Electric (GE) could sell
its gas-turbine assets to Italian rival Ansaldo Energia in a bid
to win EU approval for its plan to buy most of Alstom SA's
energy business, Bloomberg business news reported Tuesday.
The US company has also offered to sell some of its
intellectual property plus Alstom's Power Systems Manufacturing
unit to the Italian firm, the agency cited unnamed sources
familiar with the situation as saying.
The alleged offer comes after EU regulators expressed
concerns that GE's Alstom acquisition would jeopardise
competition in the energy sector.
Ansaldo has refused to comment on the proposed operation
pending an official response from EU authorities.
