A 66-year-old Genoa man on
Thursday jumped out a window to his death moments before a
bailiff arrived to evict him.
The suicide, who lived on the first floor, went to the top
floor of his building and threw himself out a window in the
stairwell.
The bailiff arrived moments later, with the eviction
notice.
The man lived in a public housing project building and his
electricity and gas utilities had already been shut off.
He was a former auto body mechanic who lived with his
mother in the home but quit working after her death 20 years
ago.
Neighbours said everyone in the area knew him and he never
gave any signs of being suicidal.
