(ANSA) - Milan, June 16 - A one-of-a-kind "all pink" coin
has been minted in honor of US First Lady Michelle Obama's visit
to Milan Expo 2015, and will be presented to the First Lady when
she visits the world's fair as leader of the Presidential
Delegation to Expo later this week.
The same coin, albeit without the special rose-toned hue,
has been presented to Pope Francis and other dignitaries, and
was designed by Laura Cretara, who also designed the Italian
one-euro coin.
The gift/souvenir was created in the historic workshop of a
Florentine mint that is one of the few in the world utilizing a
coin press of 600 tons per square centimeter.
The coin measures 150 mm in diameter, weighs 936 grams, and
is made of a rose-bronze colored alloy with an external ring of
the same color.
