Italy ranked among the bottom
seven countries in the perceived judicial independence ranking
of the EU's Justice Scoreboard report released on Monday,
scoring 3.5 out of a possible 7 in 2013-2014 data.
Italy's ranking has fallen consistently in past years, from
3.8 in 2010-2012 data and 3.7 in 2012-2013 data.
In this year's report, Italy tied with Romania at 3.5.
The only EU countries ranked lower than Italy are Slovenia
with 3.4, Spain and Hungary both at 3.2, and Bulgaria and
Slovakia tied at 2.3.
The highest-ranked countries are Finland at 6.6, Denmark at
6.5, and Ireland at 6.3.
