Eight people were arrested
Monday on suspicion of racketeering in an insurance scam that
investigators say defrauded 18 auto insurance companies of more
than two million euros.
Seven suspects were placed under house arrest and the
eighth went to jail.
Some 150 people are being probed in the case, including a
doctor and two lawyers.
According to investigators, participants in the scam
simulated car accidents in order to defraud the auto insurance
companies.
