(ANSA) - Rome, November 28 - A judge on Friday ordered Elio
Catania, ex-Telecom board member, to stand trial in March on
charges of insider trading, ANSA sources said.
Catania, who is currently president of the digital division
of Italian big-business group Confindustria, will be tried for
abuse of privileged information, ANSA sources said.
The trial, set to start on March 3, stems from a formal
complaint brought by Telecom in which Catania is alleged to have
given a journalist information that was reserved only for the
Telecom board of directors.
Telecom claims that the information Catania revealed about
the company's negative growth trend provoked a 5% decline in
Telecom stock.
The journalist was also implicated in the original
complaint, but investigating judges later dismissed that
allegation.
