A Florence-based military lab
has just finished Phase I trials of an experimental
hemorrhage-blocking medication that could help treat Ebola
patients, Health Minister Beatrice Lorenzin said Wednesday.
Humanitarian NGO Emergency has already requested 1,000
doses of the new drug to be sent to Sierra Leone, Lorenzin said.
The current outbreak of the virus has already killed more
than 4,500 people, mostly in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
