Forza Italia (FI) MP Luigi Cesaro
is suspected of external involvement in mafia association and
tender-rigging, judicial sources said Wednesday after
investigators sent a request to the Lower House for his arrest.
At the centre of the investigation is an alleged 2004
meeting between Cesaro and Luigi Guida, a former boss of the
Casalesi clan of the Neapolitan mafia, the Camorra.
At the meeting the two allegedly agreed on which firms to
award contracts to in relation to an industrial programme for
the town of Lusciano, near Caserta.
