Seventeen employees with
a State health department (ASL) in the southern Calabrian town
of Pizzo were suspended for two months on aggravated fraud
charges on Thursday.
The workers - including managers, clerks and nurses -
regularly walked off their jobs to run personal errands or did
not go to work asking colleagues to punch in for them,
Carabinieri police said.
The suspension was ordered by a judge after a two-year
investigation by local prosecutors.
