According to the president, the dissolution of the Superior council of magistrates has become a need. "I will not intervene with appointments or specific cases, but the duty and historic responsibility have imposed such a decision, also because the Tunisian people want the country to be cleaned", said Saied in a video published on the his office's page.
"This circus must end- I don't want to mention anybody's name, but those who consider justice a means to regulate their personal and political affairs must know that they will not be able to infiltrate tribunals", added the president, citing the "cover-up of evidence" in cases of the political murders in 2013 of Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Brahmi.
"Some say that the president of the Republic wants to concentrate power in his hands but I only aspire to a Constitution that satisfies the expectations of Tunisians", he added. "I want a Constitution responding to the will of the people and that is not tailor-made". (ANSAmed).
