(ANSAmed) - ROME, OCTOBER 28 - Turkish President Recep
Tayyip Erdogan said ''France and Europe don't deserve
politicians like (French President Emmanuel) Macron and those
who share his mentality, who continue to sow hatred'' and ''who
would like to relaunch the Crusades''. Erdogan was speaking
about the French president's support for satirical magazine
Charlie Hebdo over its publication of caricatures of the Prophet
Mohammed. ''Chancellor Merkel could not explain to me why
100-150 policemen broke into the Mosque of Mevlana in Berlina
during prayers at dawn'', while ''our country numbers 435
churches and synagogues which are under the State's
protection'', the president said. ''We have not hindered
anyone's religion, nor will we do it'', Erdogan said.
Erdogan's attorneys have meanwhile filed legal proceedings at
the State attorney's office in Ankara against Charlie Hebdo for
the caricature of the Turkish leader on the cover of the latest
edition of the satirical magazine published on Wednesday,
Anadolu reports. Another procedure has already been filed by
prosecutors in the Turkish capital. ''There is nothing to say
on these rogues. My anger is not due to the ignoble attack
against me but the insults against the prophet'' Mohamed,
Erdogan said. In the cartoon, the Turkish president can be
seen lying on the couch, in a T-shirt and briefs, with a can in
his hand, while he raises the long veil of a Muslim woman with a
tray and two glasses of wine. With the tip of his fingers
Erdogan raises the woman's dress, uncovering her bottom and
exclaiming: ''Ouuuh! The Prophet!''. (ANSAmed). (ANSA).
