(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, FEBRUARY 25 - The emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is undertaking an official visit to Tunisia, and Tunisian President Kais Saied, have stressed in a brief joint press conference at the Palace of Carthage that the two countries agree on a number of domestic, bilateral, Arab and regional issues, citing first and foremost the Libyan and Palestinian dossiers. President Saied highlighted the ''valorization and expansion of relations between Tunisia and Qatar and with all sincere brothers'', and the financial support provided by Qatar to Tunisia since 2011 with the possibility of converting debt into investments, according to a statement released by the president's office in Tunis.
Said reportedly said that he appreciated the fact that Hamad Al Thani was willing to contribute to the implementation of the project for a medical city in the governorate of Kairouan, as well as a project for production markets in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid. This will make the harvest, production and packaging of agricultural products easier, according to the statement.
The Qatari emir's visit to Tunisia contributes to open promising perspectives for the two sides to develop and enrich the cooperation between the two countries, stressed Saied.
The talks moreover focused on the need to reach an inter-Libyan solution to solve the crisis in the country with the possibility of holding a second summit in Tunis, which would be more inclusive, of Libyan tribes and municipalities in order to try to end the conflict.
The two leaders reportedly stressed the importance of international legitimacy regarding the Palestinian dossier, in spite of its limits. The emir of Qatar described relations between Tunisia and Qatar as ''exemplary'', stating he wants to see President Saied in Qatar soon.
According to Qatari news agency Qena, the emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, after Tunisia will travel to Algeria to discuss the latest developments in the region, in particular Libya.
