(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, MARCH 8 - Turkey and Russia on Friday
began joint military patrols to monitor a ceasefire in Idlib,
the Syrian northwestern province out of control of the Syrian
regime and with Turkish observation posts in several locations.
The al-Qaeda-linked Hayat Tahrir al Sham has a strong presence in the region.
The announcement was made by Turkish defense minister Hulusi Akar, who noted that restrictions on the use of the airspace over Idlib and the nearby Afrin had been eliminated. He added that Turkish military coordination in Syria was with Russia and Iran and that there was no direct contact with the Syrian regime.(ANSAmed).
