of Sirte, where operations are underway against Islamic State
(ISIS) combatants, ''is still very difficult'', Undersecretary
for Foreign Affairs Vincenzo Amendola said Wednesday.
He was speaking during a joint defense and foreign affairs committees hearing in the Italian parliament. ''Libya forces,'' he added, ''have made significant progress'' that has led to fewer ''terrorist forces'' in the city. ''However,'' he added, ''over the past few weeks the offensive has been faced with a stalemate that has prevented the gaining of the last bastions occupied by ISIS in the city.'' (ANSAmed).
