(ANSAmed) - ANKARA - After complaints by Turkey's main opposition party, the Republican People's Party (CHP), against the election of a mayoral candidate for the Islamic Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Yalova, a city in northwestern Turkey, the electoral commission granted victory to the CHP, Ankara press reported. The AKP candidate was elected according to preliminary results with a one vote advantage. Numerous allegations of election fraud and irregularities were presented in various cities of the countries, in particular in Ankara and Antalya, where the AKP won by a difference of 0.9% according to still preliminary results. The opposition has called for a recount of all the votes in these two cities as well as Istanbul. The central electoral commission has not yet published official results of Sunday's elections, won according to preliminary results by Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan's AKP with 45% of the vote compared to 28% for the CHP.(ANSAmed).
