Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi on Wednesday described as
"abominable" the attack on the U.S. consulate in the Libyan city
of Benghazi in which the U.S. ambassador to the country,
Christopher Stevens, was killed along with three other State
Department employees.
"The news from Benghazi elicits horror and indignation," Terzi said during a visit to Malta after Stevens was killed, reportedly by a rocket attack in a protest over a American-produced movie that is said to insult the Prophet Muhammad. "My thoughts go, above all, to the families of the victims of an abominable act that hits men working on the front line to give back hope and support to a people that wants to build a future of freedom and democracy.
"I express my most sincere and profound solidarity to the United States, in particular to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, for the State Department's sacrifice of human lives on a very sad day for everyone".(ANSAmed).
