''The CEI is ready to take concrete actions to assist its three member countries by exploiting its instruments and funds as well as its experience in managing EU-funded projects. The modalities will be examined with the three affected countries directly'', said the 18-member forum, which is made up of Austria, Italy, and 16 Balkan States.
Through its fund at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which is contributed by Italy, the CEI is running two studies aimed at improving environmental monitoring and disaster prevention in the Drina river basin, targeting Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia.
The projects are coordinated by the Regional Environmental Protection Agency of Italy's Emilia Romagna region in cooperation with the target countries.
The floods will be on the agenda at this year's meeting of CEI foreign ministers on June 3 in Vienna, CEI said. (ANSAmed).
