(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, APRIL 29 - A wide-ranging attack by
Islamic State (ISIS) militants was conducted on Friday in
central areas of Syria and Russia responded by carrying out 30
airstrikes on ISIS positions, according to the Syrian
Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
SOHR reported that the ISIS attack had been launched south of Raqqa on government positions and those of local militias co-opted by Russia in the area.
It added that the Russian airstrikes had been carried out in the same area of the attack against ISIS positions in the triangle between the cities of Homs, Aleppo, and Raqqa in central Syria.
There is no information currently available on casualties. A number of ISIS militants reportedly sustained injuries but the information is not able to be verified independently on the ground. (ANSAmed).
