(ANSAmed) - ROME, JULY 3 - The crew of the Ocean Viking
has asked the Italian and Maltese authorities to immediately
evacuate for medical reasons 44 of the 180 migrants currently
onboard the ship.
The NGO Sos Mediterranee wrote on Twitter that some have expressed the wish to commit suicide and that the situation is very tense onboard.
It added that one migrant had tried to commit suicide on Friday morning and that the safety of both the crew and the survivors onboard were at risk if a safe port were not to be found immediately.(ANSAmed). (ANSA).
