(ANSAmed) - CAIRO, MARCH 11 - The killing of ''46 highly
dangerous terrorists'' in airstrikes and clashes in the northern
and central sections of the Sinai peninsula left 3 Egyptian
soldiers dead, MENA reported a statement as saying on Monday.
The news agency noted that the clashes had occurred ''in
recent days''.
The statement added that some 15 ''terrorist hideouts'' had
been destroyed and 204 IEDs placed along roads had been blown
up.
The operation also included the seizure of ''a large quantity
of arms, munitions, and explosive material'', it said.
Some ''100 criminals wanted by the security forces'' were
arrested and 17 cars and 14 motorcycles were destroyed.
In the northern and central sections of the Sinai, a
low-intensity conflict has been underway for the past six years
between Egyptian security forces and terrorists linked to the
Islamic State (ISIS), with numerous deaths on both sides but no
official death toll has been published. (ANSAmed).
